Church sermon transcription appears to be quite popular in the US and a search on the internet came up with a number of digital church sermon transcription companies. I offer a totally UK-based church transcription service, offering both digital church sermon transcription and analogue (standard tape) church sermon transcription alongside podcast and webcast transcription. 

My name is Dee Briston and I am a Born Again, Spirit filled Christian (see My belief is page for further details).  I offer this UK church sermon transcription service firstly because when I was asking the Holy Spirit what direction to take my business in He said church sermon transcription and secondly because I want to feed my Spirit as well as my bank balance. Q: Why have your church sermons transcribed when they are available in podcast format? 

A: Not everyone uses a computer and the majority of people like to read something, to enable them to absorb the Word - it encourages deeper study.

What services do I provide? 

Church sermon transcription ~ converting the recording of Pastor's teaching/preaching into text (you may have had notes but when the Holy Spirit inspires you your notes get forgotten and what flows out isn't always captured in your own notes)

Podcast transcription - online content transcribed - providing Word or PDF copies for your visitors to download

Teaching notes/study guides transcribed from digital/tape recordings

Video transcription ~ either your own or an online streaming event that you would like in text to study at length

Old tape transcription ~ favourite talks recorded pre-digital transcribed into text - I convert the old tapes to digital format, give you a free copy and transcribe the audio into text (provided to you either in Word format for your own editing or pdf)

Author's manuscripts ~ transcribing your dictated notes

Prophecy ~ have you recorded what someone has spoken over you and you would like it in print to consider (1 Thessalonians 5:20-22[NIV] - Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil)

How much will it cost?

Transcription at £1.00 per audio minute for all audio transcription i.e. 60 minutes of audio would cost you £60.00 to transcribe (based on clear audio)

Converting old tapes to digital charged at 20p per audio minute, i.e. a 60 minute standard tape would cost £12.00 to convert to digital format. Audio would be sent to you in mp3 format to keep on your computer. If burned to CD/DVD to send to you, add an additional £1.00 plus p&p. You won't get charged for the conversion of standard tapes or the free copy the audio if you use my transcription service.

I am not VAT registered. 

How do I transcribe your sermons?

Website audio sermons are downloaded and transcribed into Word or pdf format

Digital recordings can be sent to me via the secure file transfer system I use or I can provide you with a simple drag and drop system for you to share your audio with me (just ask)

Standard taped recordings - send me your standard tapes, I will convert them to digital format and transcribe them. You won't get charged for the conversion of standard tapes or the free copy the audio if you use my transcription service.

I double check the Bible references given to ensure they are correct before transcribing them.

What do you need to be able to submit a book?(example from Inter-Varcity Press http://www.ivpbooks.com/submissions

It is not necessary to have written the whole book before you approach us. It is better just to draft an overall plan.

If you are ready to submit a proposal, we recommend you structure it along the following lines, so that we can evaluate your project:

1. Overview
A summary (200–300 words) of the book’s aims and scope.

2. Contents
A contents list with a short paragraph describing each chapter.

3. Sample
One or two sample chapters.

4. Readership
A realistic assessment of the intended readership. Please try to be specific and stress the major markets.
Consider the following:

What level is it pitched at?
Is its appeal international or confined to a particular geographic market?

5. Competing titles
A description of the book in relation to competing titles.
This should include:

The author, title, publisher, publication date, price and number of pages of the main competing titles
Any key selling-points that will distinguish your book from the competition

6. Other relevant information

Your timetable: what stage are you at now, and when do you hope to complete the manuscript?
How long is the final manuscript likely to be (i.e. number of words including notes, footnotes, bibliography etc)?
Will there be any illustrations or photographs? If so, how many?

7. About the author(s)/editor(s)
