Freelance Transcribers Required

We are looking for experienced audio transcribers to work on a freelance basis, i.e. you work on an 'as required' basis and are responsible for your own tax and National Insurance. We do not employ transcribers full time but on an ad-hoc basis. Freelancers are paid monthly and the rates of pay are very competitive - we believe you should get paid a fair fee for your expertise.

To be considered and to apply you ...

1. are currently experienced with transcribing with some or all of the following: one to one interviews, focus groups, PACE/under caution interviews, conferences;
2. are currently experienced with transcribing from digital media, i.e. DSS, WAV, MP3 or WMV files;
3. are a UK citizen and English is your mother tongue;
4. are conversant with the use of email and have the necessary safeguards on your computer such as firewall, anti-spyware and virus protection

We are ideally looking for people who have worked as an audio transcriber as part of their daily workday experience (70%+ audio) and who may come from a legal transcription, medical transcription or PA background. Your location around the UK is no barrier to your application - all work is sent via a secure file transfer system.

We work with university research units and research bodies in the main and they require our transcripts to be extremely accurate and our test procedure ensures that we provide them with professional transcribers. Please only apply if you fulfil the criteria above and feel confident that you can pass the audio test.

You will need to have digital transcription software on your computer and a suitable foot pedal. If you do not have this equipment please do not apply.
